Obituary for Eleanor Tobin Dateline: Charlton, NY
Eleanor M. Tobin, 93, of Charlton, NY , died on Sunday, December 29, 2013 at the family residence. She was born on June 30, 1920 in Ballston Spa, NY and was the daughter of the late Harry Ernest and Nellie (Benedict) Webb. She was also step- daughter of the late Mary Baker Webb. Eleanor was a graduate of Ballston Spa High School and Troy Business School. On December 7, 1941 she married her beloved husband, the late Richard J. Tobin. She lived in Ballston Spa, NY, Baltimore, MD, Round Lake, NY and later moved to Charlton, NY . She was a housewife and homemaker. In March of 1955 she became a member of the Round Lake United Methodist Church. She served on the Board of Trustees there and later served as secretary then president until she retired in the year 2000. She was the President of the United Methodist Women’s group, Superintendent of Sunday school and she instituted a “ Chrismon tree”. She enjoyed knitting and sewing and camping with her family and friends . She loved crafts and telling stories of her life. She was the caring mother of Patricia Ann (The late Donald) Herold of Charlton, NY; loving grandmother of Terri A. Herold (Fleming) of Charlton, NY; adoring great- grandmother of Jareth M. Fleming of Charlton, NY. A funeral service will be held on Thursday at 7:00 PM in the Townley & Wheeler Funeral Home, 21 Midline Road, Ballston Lake, NY. The Rev. Jeffrey Stratton, pastor of United Methodist Church in South Glens Falls, NY will officiate. Relatives and friends are invited and may call on Thursday from 4-7 PM at the funeral home prior to the service. Interment will be on Monday in the Ballston Spa Village Cemetery Association, Ballston Spa, NY where she will be laid to rest next to her husband. In Lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Wounded Warrior Project, Wounded Warrior Project, P.O.
